How Nigerians Are Cashing In On Exchange Rate… SEE The 5 Food Items That Have Become Expensive Since Dollar Rise

The new slang in town now is ‘dollar don cost’ and for this reason prices of most commodities have hit the sky. This is not quite surprising considering the fact that Nigeria is an importing country. However, only prices of imported products should rise but that isn’t the case, as prices of products produced in Nigeria have equally increased. This is all thanks to greedy traders who want to make so much profit at the detriment of fellow citizens.  in this regard brings HOTSPOT you 5 items that their prices have increased but should not have…

Palm Oil : A bottle of palm oil used to cost N240 but now, it is sells for between N300 and N350 per bottle. Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms, which is grown largely in Nigeria so there is no need for dollar to affect its price.
Garri: Before now around November 2015, the price a paint of garri was N350 but as of now, it is N400. Garri is made from cassava which is grown in Nigeria and not imported, therefore the price shouldn’t rise with dollar rise.

Pure water:  The water isn’t imported and neither is the sachet but some Nigerians have taken a hint from the constant rising dollar to increase the price of this product. Before now, a sachet of pure water costs N5 and a bag was N60 or N70 naira but now a sachet costs N20 and a bag is between N100 and N120.

Eggs: Before now, depending on the size of the egg, there are some for N25 and others for N30 but as of now, the N25 egg is now sold for N30. The question you are probably asking is, are eggs imported? The answer is NO!

Vegetables: In those days, vegetables especially greens were seen as poor peoples food because it was very cheap, however, the reverse is the case nowadays. Prices of veggies such as greens, okra, tomatoes, peppers (which are grown in Nigeria and not imported) have increased by a noticeable percent. For those whose prices haven’t changed, the quantity has been reduced and when you inquire why from these sellers they say the popular phrase we started this piece with.
Which did we miss???
